From vice presidents to presidents of the United States
Although no official announcement has been made, everyone knows who will be the next president of the United States for the next four years. Joe Biden is the 15th vice president of the United States and later became president. Six of the remaining 14 were elected presidents of the country. The rest were responsible for the death or resignation of the previous president. Let’s find out which vice presidents have become presidents in the United States.
John Adams
George Washington was the first president of the United States. When Washington died, he served as president from 1896 to 1801.
Thomas Jefferson
John Adams was vice president. He defeated John Adams in the 1800 election and became the third president of the United States in 1801.
Martin van Buuren
Andrew was Jackson’s vice president. Jackson retired and became the eighth president of the United States in 1836.
John Tyler
He was vice president under William Henry Harrison. Harrison became president after his death. He is the tenth vice president of the United States and also the tenth president.
Millard Filmore
Jacqueline was Taylor’s vice president. He became the 13th president after Taylor’s death.
Andrew Johnson
Abraham Lincoln was vice president. When Lincoln was assassinated, Andrew became president.
Chester Arthur
He served as Vice President of the United States during the tenure of James Garfield. Chester became the 21st president in 181 after Garfield’s death.
Theodore Roosevelt
William McKinley was vice president. When McKinley died, Roosevelt became president. He was re-elected president at the end of his term.
Calvin Coolidge
President Warren G. Harding was a vice president at the time. After Harding’s death, Calvin became the 30th President of the United States in 1923. He was re-elected president for a full term.
Harry Truman
Franklin D. Roosevelt was a vice president at the time. Harry became president after Franklin’s death. He was re-elected President of the United States for a full term.
Lyndon Johnson
John F. Kennedy was a vice president at the time. Became president after Kennedy’s death. Lyndon has since been re-elected a full-time president.
Richard Nixon
Nixon was the vice president of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United States. Eight years later he was elected president.
Gerald Ford
Richard Nixon resigned as president and became the 36th president of the United States in 1974.
George H. W. Bush
Bush was Ronald Reagan’s vice president. He won the 1986 election and became the 41st President of the United States.
Joe Biden
Joe Biden was vice president under Barack Obama. He is now awaiting relocation to the White House as the 47th president.
